More and more stores are starting to catch on to the fact that there are millions and millions of diabetics in the world. Sure, they are catching on because it benefits them financially, however it benefits us as well.
In a recent trip to Wal-Mart, we discovered that in their health section, next to the pharmacy, they had a dedicated aisle for diabetic supplies and supplements. This is great!
Of course this is a massive sales thing for Wal-Mart, but look at how easy it is to get the necessary items for us. Everything you need to find, all in one aisle.
While browsing through the selection of items on the shelves, an employee approached me and asked if I needed help with anything. To my surprise, she was well educated in diabetic supplies (and she too was a type-2 diabetic).
Does this mean we only have one aisle to shop from now? No, of course not. Depending on what type of diabetes you have, and how serious your doctor’s diet or instructions are, there are a number of other options available for you too. As the woman from Wal-Mart explained to me when I asked about this new aisle, she said “these are just a few of the common items that diabetics look for on a regular basis. We’ve brought them all together so it’s easier for you to come in, grab what you need, and get out.” How brilliant is that? In the same row I found a number of One Touch Meter products, sugar alternatives, safe drinks, etc.
As time goes on I suspect that this will be more and more common, and that’s great for us.
